About Us

Welcome to Healing Hearts Rescue!

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based rescue located in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota that  is 100% funded through adoption fees and donations.  We are excited for you to join us on this mission to save the lives of dogs in need.  We believe every dog deserves to be loved as true members of a family and are committed to fulfilling that dream one dog at a time!

Our Mission

Healing Hearts Rescue is a volunteer-based non-profit dog rescue dedicated to changing the lives of animals whom humans have failed by finding them safe and loving homes. Through the power of rescue, lives will be saved, hearts will be healed and you might find yourself asking “Who rescued whom?”

Our Vision

We envision a day when all dogs know what it’s like to be loved; where rescues can work together to advocate for those without words of their own and educate those who bring them into this world.

"Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog. It merely expands the heart."

Laura Flaherty

Co-Founder
Laura, like many, always knew there were dogs in need in the world. But, it wasn't a focus in her life until she met some of them. She found her passion in helping the tender-hearted heal. As an educator by background, she brings almost 30 years as a consultant and trainer, and seven years of rescue experience with her into this new venture. She is a great believer in the need to work with the mind, body and soul of any creature in recovery.

Lacey Mantovani

Co-Founder
Lacey has always had a passion for all things to do with animals. She has a knack for connecting with those who need her the most, so rescuing animals comes naturally for her. She has 12 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician and 7 years experience working in rescue. Her love for animals and our planet brought her to learning about holistic care and she hopes to bring her knowledge along on her rescue journey.
